Ashes of the Last Flame is a fictional project for a Young Adult fantasy book. The story follows a young mage who discovers she is the heir to the Ancestral Flame — a powerful fire magic that was banned by the Empire after the Mage Wars. Throughout the plot, she explores a dark and fantastical world, uncovers mystical secrets about herself, and must evade the inquisitors who seek to extinguish her flame.

This cover was designed to be the first in a book series. The goal was to portray the protagonist, showcase her magical abilities, and convey the atmosphere of a dark world ruled by a vast empire. I chose a centralized composition to emphasize the main character. She is shown holding a candlestick-like staff, summoning her magical flame.

In the background, I included structures inspired by Roman architecture and a deep blue sky. The overall environment is intentionally dark, to create contrast with the glowing flame in the protagonist’s staff.
